China will start construction of a high speed rail link to Myanmar in around two months, a senior rail expert has said. China Daily reported Wang Mengshu from the Chinese Academy of Engineering, as saying that the 1,920km link from Yunnan province to Myanmar’s largest city, Yangon, would be able to accommodate trains running at speeds of up to 200kph. The stretch of track forms part of the broader plan to develop a network of rail links across Southeast Asia.
