Samui airport closes due to bad weather

Samui airport was forced to close yesterday due to heavy rain and flooding. Talking to TDA yesterday afternoon, Bangkok Airways’ Chief of Media Relations, Passapong Jirawattanasak, said that 14 flights in and out of the holiday island had been cancelled as of 2pm yesterday. Thailand’s southeastern provinces have been hit by torrential rain in the past 48 hours, with six districts of Nakhon Si Thammarat province declared a disaster zone and the hub city of Hat Yai under two metres of water.
