Commuters in China are being offered a novel alternative to crisps, chocolate and soft drinks usually dispensed from train station vending machines – live crabs. UK newspaper, The Telegraph, reported that automatic crab dispensers have been installed at several metro stations in Nanjing. The Dazha hairy crabs - a popular regional delicacy - are sold in three sizes ranging in prices from US$2.40 to US$8. The Twin Lake Crab Co company now plans to expand the trials, possibly to Japan.
