A British man has travelled around the world using Twitter to get free journeys from fellow users. According The Sun newspaper, Paul Smith came up with the idea after returning home from his honeymoon in New York. Four weeks before departure, he posted on Twitter his plans to get to Campbell Island, New Zealand, in 30 days, asking people to help him with his trip. Following a plug from British actor, comedian and famous ‘tweeter’, Stephen Fry, Smith was inundated with offers. He eventually managed to travel from the UK through Holland, France and Germany, before a Tweeter offered his air miles to fl y Smith to New York. From there he made it to LA, before Air New Zealand sponsored the last trans-Pacifi c leg of his journey. He has now written a book about the adventure, called ‘Twitchhiker’.
