Hybrid tourist train launched in Japan

A new hybrid passenger train with an electric motor and diesel engine was put into service in Japan on Saturday, the Japan Times has reported. The ‘Resort View Furusato’ tourist train will run between the city of Nagano and Minami-Otari stations once a day until 26 December. The 78-seat train features large windows so that passengers can enjoy the views, as well as an observation car.
