Subway services start in Chengdu

Subway train services were launched in Chengdu, in China’s Sichuan province yesterday. Chengdu Subway Line One runs between along a north-south axis under the city, covering a distance of 18.5km with 17 stations, Xinhua reported. The CNY8 billion (US$1.2 billion) construction began in 2005, and is expected to be extended to a network of 298km by 2020.
