AirAsia X eyes more Japanese routes

Following the announcement that it will launch flights to Tokyo in December, Malaysia’s longhaul, low-cost carrier, AirAsia X, is eying further destinations in Japan. According to local media reports, the airline’s CEO, Azran Osman-Rani, said that he was considering services to cities such as Osaka, Sapporo, Nagoya and/or Fukuoka. “As far as other airports in Japan, we remain interested. I have always said Japan is a market where we can operate at three different airports, including Haneda,” Japanese news agency Kyodo quoted Osman-Rani as saying this week. “I like Nagoya, but in my mind I’m not sure because in Nagoya you are just over one hour from Tokyo… Osaka and Fukuoka are the higher priorities,” he added.
