Red shirts protests return to Bangkok
Published on Sep 20, 2010
The ‘red shirt’ protesters returned to the streets of central Bangkok yesterday, with approximately 10,000 demonstrators gathering at the Ratchaprasong intersection – the main location of the rallies held earlier this year. Sunday’s protests, which marked the fourth anniversary of the coup that forced former PM Thaksin Shinawatra from power, passed off peacefully. Traffic was disrupted but BTS skytrain services were unaffected. Smaller rallies were held in other provincial cities, including Chiang Mai, Ubon Ratchathani, Ayutthaya and Rayong.
