Tourism Australia to Host "The Oprah Winfrey Show"

Oprah partnership creates opportunities for tourism...
“The Oprah Winfrey Show,” is set to travel to Australia this December to fi lm at least two episodes that will air in early 2011. The promotion is the result of a partnership between Tourism Australia, Qantas and “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” which will enable Australia to be showcased to audiences worldwide. Oprah made the announcement on the season premiere which aired yesterday. She was joined by Qantas Ambassador-at-Large and Hollywood superstar, John Travolta, to make the surprise announcement. “As part of the Qantas team I am delighted the audience will have the opportunity to travel on the award-winning Qantas A380,” Travolta said.
Tourism Australia’s partnership with “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” will see the cast and crew, as well as 300 loyal viewers travel on an eight-day, seven-night trip to Australia in December. “The fact that Ms Winfrey has chosen to share her first visit to Australia with her television audience is a huge backing for our country and provides an amazing opportunity for Australian tourism,” Dixon said. ”We can showcase why there’s nothing like Australia to audiences around the world and encourage them to come and explore our country for themselves whether it’s their first time or their fifth time.” Qantas CEO, Alan Joyce, said; “The Oprah Winfrey show has a world-wide audience across 145 countries and we are delighted to partner with Tourism Australia on this amazing opportunity to showcase the best Australia has to offer.” Other partners include Tourism New South Wales, the Sydney Opera House, Tourism Victoria, Tourism Queensland, R.M. Williams and Network 10. Other States and Territories may also be given the opportunity to be involved through editorial profiling opportunities.
