More than 300 outbound flights from Shanghai’s Pudong International Airport were delayed after Tropical Storm Meranti hit the city on Saturday, Xinhua reported airport officials as saying. The flights, both domestic and international, were delayed for more than 30 minutes from 5pm on Saturday. Inbound flights were not seriously affected, with fewer than 10 services being delayed prior to landing, while services from Hongqiao airport were not severely affected. Before hitting Shanghai, the storm, which was then classed as a typhoon, had made landfall in eastern China’s Fujian province on Friday, killing three people.
