A major renovation project has been completed on a 3,700-metre stretch of the Great Wall of China at Badaling, in Beijing’s Yanqing county. According to Xinhua, the four-year project required workers to experience what life was like during the original construction of the Great Wall, with manual labour required to transport 130,000 bricks, 2,900m3 of stone, 600m3 of stone stabs and 6,000 tons of water to the mountain-top construction site. The hillsides were so steep that machinery could not be used, the report said.
