Beijing subway “blast” caused by short circuit
Published on Aug 31, 2010
Authorities in Beijing have denied claims that a subway train was damaged in an explosion last week. According to a China Daily report, Beijing Subway Company said the “blast” was caused by a metal rod being dropped on to rails, which caused a train’s current-collector to short circuit. Passengers on Beijing Subway’s Line 1 were reported saying they heard a “big bang” at the city’s Military Museum station.
