New metro line to open in Beijing

The Beijing Metro’s new Fangshan Line has started trial operations, with a view to opening to passengers by the end of the year. The 25km line will link Beijing’s central districts with Fangshan District, in the southwest of the city, Xinhua reported. The total length of Beijing’s underground rail lines will extend to more than 300km by the end of 2010.
