Indonesia launches women-only trains
Published on Aug 20, 2010
The Indonesian capital Jakarta, has launched women-only train carriages in an attempt to reduce cases of sexual harassment on public transport. The initiative follows an earlier move to introduce separate male and female bus shelters. The state-run train operator will now operate two new carriages exclusively for female passengers on the Jakarta-Bogor routes. If the scheme is successful, more women-only carriages will be rolled-out.
