World Expo passes 40 million-visitor mark

The 2010 World Expo in Shanghai notched up its 40 millionth visitor on Saturday, the Expo Coordination Bureau has said. The milestone was reached on the Expo's 106th day, at an average of nearly 37,736 visitors per day. The daily figure is expected to exceed 600,000 in September and October however, as the weather cools. Organisers have targeted 70 million visitors during its six-month run.
