A bomb at Zamboanga airport in the southern Philippines has killed two people and injured 24. According to reports, the blast occurred before the arrival of the US Ambassador to the Philippines, Harry Thomas, although the Governor of Sulu, Sakur Tan, appears to have been the intended victim, targeted as he arrived on a plane from Manila. Both officials were unhurt. The bomb had been carried into the airport hidden in a rucksack.
