Bangkok’s CentralWorld prepares to reopen

The Centara Grand & Bangkok Convention Centre is organising a series of promotions in the fourth quarter of this year to coincide with the first-phase reopening of CentralWorld, which is scheduled for 28 September. The shopping and entertainment complex has been closed since suffering damage during the antigovernment protests in Bangkok earlier this year, but the refurbishment work is nearly complete. “With our refurbishment now nearing completion we anticipate that 90% of CentralWorld will be reopened for customers by the end of September, and that Zen department store will be reopened in August next year,” said Kobchai Chirathivat, President and CEO of Central Pattana plc. “Confidence is returning quickly to Bangkok and to the Ratchaprasong district,” he added.
The Centara Grand is now planning special food and beverage promotions, spa packages and attractive discounts on rooms to coincide with the CentralWorld reopening, and continuing for the remainder of the year. This latest move to entice visitors back to the former protest site follows the mega fam trip hosted at Centara Grand at CentralWorld, organised by the Tourism Authority of Thailand last month.
