Straddling bus to beat China traffic jams
Published on Aug 6, 2010
An inventor in China has devised a new ‘straddling bus’ concept, which has the potential to beat traffic jams, the Beijing News has reported. The bus, which can carry up to 1,400 passengers at a time, straddles the road on four-metre-high tracks, allowing vehicles less than two metres tall to pass underneath. According to inventor, Song Youzhou, the ideal will reduce traffic jams by 20-30%. The bus will be eco-friendly too, running on solar energy.
