Tourism up in Southeast China

Tourism revenues in Xiamen, Fujian province Southeast China, jumped by 16,6% in the first half of 2010, to CNY17 billion (US$2.5 billion). The coastal city received 13.8 million tourists during the first six months of the year, which represents a year-on-year increase of 19.8% in the total number of visitors. As tourism grows in the region, investors are taking increasing interest and CNY508 was invested in the industry between January and June. According to Chinese press reports, investment has helped improve tourist infrastructure and services in the city to help visitors navigate the area.
