China spurs air freight recovery

China’s increasingly affluent urban middle-class is craving luxury goods, and airlines are among the organisations reaping the rewards. As Chinese consumers demand more imported fresh food, like Japanese sashimi and European cheese, air freight operators are racing to keep pace with demand reports Bloomberg. According to estimates from the International Transport Association, China will lead an 18.5% recovery in air shipments this year, helping the industry forget 2009, its worst year in half a century.
