China to open Maritime Museum in Shanghai

The spectacular new China Maritime Museum will open to the public on Sunday, in the Pudong New Area of Shanghai, overlooking Hangzhou Bay. According to a Xinhua report, the CNY500 million (US$73.7 million) museum, which is shaped like a billowing sail, covers 46,400m2 across three floors and an outdoor display area. It will display 420 models of boat and ship, valuable relics, charts, navigation equipment and artifacts in multimedia, interactive exhibits, including a 4-D movie theatre.
