Close encounter for tiger spotters in India

A group of tourists hoping to see Bengal tigers in the Sundarbans national park, eastern India, had a rather closer encounter with the big cats than they expected, when a fully-grown tigress entered the lodge in which they were staying. According to a Times of India report, the animal entered the Sajnekhali Tourist Lodge on Saturday, having jumped over a boundary fence, apparently after being chased by two other tigers. Tourists and staff at the lodge were sent running for cover as the tigress roamed the compound, before eventually being tranquilised by forestry officials.
