Cambodia aims to increase overland arrivals

Cambodia is simplifying procedures at border crossings in order to boost the number of tourists arriving by land to over a million visitors per year, Tourism Minister Thong Khon said this week. Reported by the Phnom Penh Post, the minister said that country was looking at streamlining requirement for vehicles entering the country. “We are trying to find solutions to the issue of insuring vehicles who cross the border, and also in processing customs documents,” Khon said. Cambodia welcomed 334,273 overland tourists in the first four months of the year; 163,797 from Vietnam, 157,708 from Thailand, and 12,768 from Laos, Ministry of Tourism statistics showed.
