Shanghai-Nanjing high-speed rail link to launch on 1 July

Shanghai-Nanjing high-speed rail line will start operating on 1 July, following two years of construction, the Shanghai Daily has reported. The new service, which has a top speed of 350kmph, will connect the Shanghai’s Hongqiao Transport Hub with Nanjing, 300km away, in less than an hour. The new service is one of five high-speed lines either opened or set to open in the Yangtze River Delta. By 2020, the region will offer more than 6,800km of rail lines connecting Shanghai, Nanjing, Hangzhou and Ningbo.
