Philippines bans tourists from volcano

Tourism companies in the Philippines have been banned from taking visitors to the area surrounding the Taal volcano, approximately 65km south of Manila. According to a Manila Times report, the active volcano has been showing signs that it may erupt, with authorities raising the level of alert. While there has been no forced evacuation of residents, some of those living on the volcanic island have left voluntarily.
