New international airport for Vietnam
Published on May 18, 2010
Vietnam is considering constructing a new international airport in the northern city of Hai Phong. According to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT), the new scheme is a change from the earlier plan to upgrade the existing Cat Bi Airport. The new airport would be designed to receive 60-80 million passengers per year and would also be able to accommodate overflow from Hanoi’s Noi Bai International Airport. The proposed site covers 5,900 hectares of land approximately 20km from Hai Phong city centre.
