Major quake causes tsunami panic in Aceh

A 7.2-magnitude earthquake hit the northern Indonesian province of Aceh yesterday, causing panic among local residents who feared another tsunami. According to a Channel NewsAsia report, coastal residents fled inland, but the tsunami never materialised. No casualties were reported. The quake hit just before 1pm on Sunday, 66km southwest of Meulaboh on the Aceh coast.
