Published on May 7, 2010

At least 38 people have died and 190 others injured after heavy storms swept through China’s Chongqing municipality yesterday morning, Xinhua has reported. Gale-force winds and heavy rain toppled houses in Dianjiang and Liangping counties. An emergency relief effort has now started to help those affected. Reports have suggested that a tornado could have been responsible for the damage.
