Strong quake strikes Taiwan

An earthquake measuring 6.6 on the Richter scale struck Taiwan yesterday, Taiwan News reported the country’s Seismology Centre as saying. The quake struck just before 11am local time, with the epicentre off the southeastern Taiwan coast, near the island of Lanyu. Buildings swayed in Taipei, but there were no immediate reports of casualties or structural damage.
