The Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) and the Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN) have signed an agreement to launch the ‘Trekker’s Information Management System’ (TIMS) from 1 April. The Nepal Association of Tour Operators said that the new system will see foreign trekkers travelling with trekking companies charged US$10 per trek, with independent trekkers charged US$20. The NTB said that funds from the scheme would be used to develop the trekking sector and rescue services. Trekkers will be able to obtain TIMS cards from the NTB and TAAN.
