Snowstorms wreak havoc in Xinjiang

Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, in northwest China, has suffered severe snow and sandstorms, causing transport chaos, Xinhua has reported. At least 14 flights were postponed on Friday, according to the Urumqi airport authority. Regional services linking Urumqi with Hotan, Aksu, Kashi and Bayingolin were affected. At least two avalanches were reported in the north of the region, toppling houses and cutting off roads.
