Fireworks banned in Shanghai

The sale of fi reworks will be banned in the centre of Shanghai between 1 April and 31 October as the city tries to ensure the safe and smooth running of the World Expo. According to a Shanghai Daily report, areas such as People’s Square, Nanjing Road and Xujiahui area, as well as at the city’s two airports, will see a ban on fi reworks, while groups of fi refi ghters are now patrolling the 5.28km2 World Expo site 24 hours a day.
