Belmond is has formed a new partnership with Australian chef and restaurateur, Luke Mangan, to bring his culinary expertise to passengers onboard the Eastern & Oriental Express.

Eastern & Oriental ExpressThe first hosted journey will depart on 28 October 2016, traveling from Singapore to Bangkok. Mangan and his Singapore-based team will serve up their contemporary menus onboard the luxury Asian train, in cooperation with Eastern & Oriental Express' executive chef Yannis Martineau.

"My team and I are absolutely thrilled to have partnered with Eastern & Oriental Express and are looking forward to now evolving our Salt Grill restaurant experience from being on shore and at sea, to on board one of Belmond's luxury trains. We want to ensure our customers have access to the best food and beverage experiences around the world. To now be part of the Eastern & Oriental family is undoubtedly a very exciting period of our business and brand," said Mangan.

In Singapore, guests can join Mangan for a morning tour of the city's food market before boarding the train for the three-day, two-night journey through Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand.

Once onboard the train, Mangan will meet with guests and sign copies of his latest book 'Salt Grill, Fine dining for the whole family'. And on the second day of the journey, Mangan will serve his own dishes from the train's galley kitchens.

"We are looking forward to welcoming Luke and his team aboard Eastern & Oriental Express. Luke shares our vision for creating exceptional experiences for our guests so it's going to be a really exciting partnership. It takes a unique skill to prepare such excellent cuisine in a train's small and moving galley kitchen," said Nicolas Pillet, general manager of the Eastern & Oriental Express.

Mangan operates 19 restaurants and has culinary partnerships with cruise lines, an airline and now a train.
