Tokyo's Imperial Hotel marks anniversary with revamp

Landmark hotel revamps 361 rooms and plans events

The Imperial Hotel in Tokyo is marking its 125th year of business this November with an extensive renovation of all 361 rooms in its 31-storey Imperial Tower.

The Imperial Hotel in TokyoThe Imperial Tower's two top floors have been decorated and renamed the 'Premium Tower Floors', with guests offered access to a series of club facilities and services, such as complimentary breakfast and evening drinks. Premium Tower Floor accommodations offer views of Ginza, Tokyo Bay or Hibiya Park.

The Imperial Hotel opened its doors in 1890, becoming Japan's first Western-style luxury hotel. To mark its 125th anniversary, the hotel will host a live performance of classical Noh court music in the on 3 November, which is open to both guests and the public.

An exhibition of the history of the hotel has also launched in several areas of the building and will run until March 31, 2016.
