All charges scrapped from January 9, 2015

Passenger airlines in the Philippines have scrapped fuel surcharges on all flights.

Philippines AirlinesThe move came into effect on January 9, 2015, following a directive from the Philippine Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB), which ruled that fuel surcharges should no longer be applied due to the recent drop in jet fuel prices.

In response in Travel Daily's inquiries, Cebu Pacific's vice president of corporate affairs, Atty. Juan Lorenzo Tanada, said; "CEB has complied with the Philippine Civil Aeronautics Board… and has implemented the removal of fuel surcharges."

"As this is in line with actual fuel cost decline in recent weeks, we don't foresee this to have material impact on our profitability."
