Japan to waive visas for Thai tourists

The Japanese government has approved the waiver of visas for Thais travelling to Japan for short stays, the Embassy of Japan in Thailand announced.
The relaxing of the visa requirement aims to boost the relationship between Thailand and Japan, according to the embassy's statement released yesterday.
The waiver will be implemented before Japan's summer season, while the exact date of enforcement and the duration of a "short stay" will be made public later, the statement said.
The embassy advised Thai travellers to take heed of the new rules, warning there will be no refunds for those visas issued before the waiver takes effect.
