A new US$1 billion gaming resort has opened in Manila Bay.
The flagship project of Bloomberry Resorts Corporation, the Solaire Resort & Casino opened its doors on Saturday (19 March 2013) and will form part of a huge new integrated resort area in the Philippine capital. In its first phase, the resort includes 500 hotel rooms, along with an 18,500m² casino complex featuring table games, 1,200 slot machines and 6,000m² of private VIP gaming rooms. There are also 15 food and beverage outlets, including four signature restaurants and a 220-seat food court.
The hotel rooms include a range of suites with separate lounge areas and jacuzzis, while a series of 600-1,000m² villas offer private pools, spa facilities, butler service and private chefs.
The resort complex will also feature one of Manila’s largest ballrooms, capable of accommodating up to 1,000 people, along with a spa and fitness centre.
“Our goal put simply is to raise the bar for entertainment offerings in Manila,” said Michael French, Solaire’s Chief Operating Officer. “It is our ambitious vision to be the ultimate gaming resort in the country.”
French added that in its first phase, the development will create 4,600 new jobs.
Solaire is the first of four major resort and casino developments being planned for the US$4bn Entertainment City – a 100-hectare complex on Manila Bay. The overall aim is to allow the Philippine capital to compete Macau and Singapore as one of Asia’s main gaming centres.
