Nepal has identified a series of new trekking trails in the Annapurna region, which is home to 14 peaks over 7,000 meters. The Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) said that new trails were required after existing routes in the region were shortened following the construction of new roads.
“The new road sections have hampered trekking in the region, so we explored new routes away from these dusty roads,” Nar Bahadur Amgai, an ACAP conservationist said. These new trails can be completed in between two and eight days. More than 100,000 trekkers visited the Annapurna region in 2012.
