Burma's Golden Rock to be repaired

The famous Kyaiktiyo Pagoda, or Golden Rock, in southern Burma's Mon state, will soon undergo renovations. Local tour operator Focus Asia reported that bamboo scaff olding has been erected around the monument, and subsequent enquiries confi rmed that upgrades will take place in January and February 2013. According to local legend, gravity-defying granite boulder sits upon a strand of Buddha's hair.
