Xinjiang hosts winter sports festival

A winter sports festival has opened in the region of Xinjiang, in far western China. The 7th Ice & Snow Tourism Cultural Festival got underway this week in Yili and will run until 28 February. Included in the festival are several winter sports competitions, including downhill and cross-country skiing, along with photography exhibitions, chess and table tennis tournaments, lantern festivals and other cultural activities.
