Thousands stranded in foggy China
Published on Jan 8, 2013
Thousands of passengers were left stranded at airports in China over the weekend as thick fog descended across several southwestern provinces. Chengdu’s Shuangliu International Airport was forced to close on Sunday morning as visibility dropped to dangerously low levels, grounding more than 100 flights and stranding nearly 10,000 passengers. This followed a similar situation in Kunming on Thursday, when 440 flights were canceled.
