China opens Beijing-Guangzhou bullet train

Services have commenced on a new high-speed rail line linking Beijing and Guangzhou. The line, which becomes the world’s longest bullet train journey, launched on 24 December and cuts the overland traveling time between the two cities from 22 hours to just eight. The new line will cover 2,298km, with stops in major cities including Wuhan.
