
Beijing-Guangzhou high-speed rail line to open

A new high-speed rail line will open in China this month, connecting the key cities of Beijing and Guangzhou. Launching on 26 December, the new route is expected to reduce the journey time between the two cities from 22 hours to just eight, according to China's Ministry of Railways. It will also become the world's longest high-speed rail route, with a distance of 2,298km.
