Bali to boost mountain tourism
11/20/2012

Authorities in Bali are planning to increase tourism at Mount Batur, after the volcano was given UNESCO Global Geopark status earlier this year. Indonesia's Tourism & Creative Economy Minister, Mari Elka Pangestu, was reported saying that “historical and cultural tourism, as well as medical and wellness tourism” could be developed, while hot springs were also a possible draw for the area. Located 60km north of Denpasar, Mount Batur is an active volcano, and features a large lake in its caldera.
