Makeover for Bangkok Landmark

Bangkok's Victory Monument will get a facelift next year, according to plans revealed by city authorities this week. The Nation newspaper reported that the Bangkok Metropolitan Authority (BMA) will beautify the monument and its surrounding plaza, which is home to an outdoor market, bars and food stalls. Under the plan, 33 "vertical gardens" will be installed, along with more lights, toilets and what was described as "multi-purpose space".
