Hurricane grounds thousands of flights

The arrival of Hurricane Sandy caused the cancellation of more than 6,500 flights from key airports on the US east coast yesterday. More than 1,000 flights were grounded at Philadelphia, Newark and New York LaGuardia airports on Monday, while hundreds more were cancelled at New York’s JFK airport, Boston and Washington DC’s twin hubs, Dulles and Reagan. Today more than 3,500 flights have already been confirmed canceled.
