Mini floats out new car

Mini is making a splash in the US with the launch of a new one-off model - a floating car. According to an Orange News report, the BMW-backed carmaker has tested a buoyant special edition Mini on the Charles River in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The convertible boat, powered by an outboard motor, is a fiberglass version of a 2004 Mini hard-top. The fiberglass car was created from a mould and then mounted to a boat hull. It was then decked out with all the usual Mini accessories, including wheels, tyres, headlights, badge, steering wheel and grill. The stunt was built as part of Mini USA’s annual Motor-Tober activities, when the firm dedicates the month of October to celebrate its brand.
