World's highest national park opens in Tibet

The world's highest national park opened in Tibet on Friday. The Qomolangma National Park, which is located close to the borders with China and Nepal, covers 78,000km2 in Tibet's Xigaze prefecture. Within the park are five mountains rising more than 8,000 metres, including Mount Everest, which is named Qomolangma in China. Qomolangma becomes Tibet's third national park, following the Namtso National Park and Yarlung Zangbo Grand Canyon National Park.
