Organic farming in Hong Kong Hotels
09/26/2012
As part of Regal Hotels green initiatives themed “We Love Our Planet”, small organic farms have been set up separately in various locations of the five Regal Hotels in Hong Kong. Occupying a total area of 368 square feet, the hotels’ garden areas are being used to cultivate organic veggies and herbs. Vari eties currently growing include lemongrass, Thai chili and basil, which are all being used to supply fresh ingredients to the hotels’ kitchens. John Girard, the Area General Manager Hong Kong, said; “Our gardens are run on organic principles and we are attempting full organic certifi cation. Not only is it a great conversation piece for diners, but also eco-conscious and effi cient, and helps reduce our carbon footprint.”
