Snow boost for Queenstown

Published on Sep 14, 2012

New Zealands' southern ski fields got a boost this week when heavy snowfall fell on the peaks around Queenstown. Since last Friday, Coronet Peak ski area has been blanketed by 56cm of fresh snow, while The Remarkables ski area has received 80cm. The Cardrona Alpine Resort has been topped up with an extra 25cm of snow in the last 48 hours. “It’s always exciting when it snows downtown,” Destination Queenstown's CEO Graham Budd said on Thursday. “I’m already hearing reports from the ski areas that today is the best day of the season.”
